Five rules every kit passes before it is sold.
Most brand kits are a logo file and a mood board. Ours have to clear five tests, and if a kit fails one it is not released. Here they are, in plain words.
I. Drawn, not typed
Your logo is not your name typed in a nice font. Each kit’s wordmark has custom letter spacing, at least one deliberate typographic move (a raised ampersand, a joined pair, a bar, an enlarged initial), a stacked version for square spaces, and a monogram that still reads at 16 pixels. The finished logo is converted to outlines, so it prints identically everywhere and cannot be “retyped” by accident.
II. One owned colour
A warm base, a dark, one signature colour and one accent — that is the whole palette, and it is enough. Three colourways per kit, each checked for contrast. No gradients in marks. No beige-only palettes that disappear on a shelf.
III. One thing from a hand
Every kit carries one piece of ornament that did not come out of a font or a shape tool: an engraved plate traced from a public-domain archive (the Wellcome Collection, the Met, the Biodiversity Heritage Library — the source is named in your kit), or a seal, block-print or texture we make ourselves. Nothing is AI-generated imagery. That is the difference between a brand and a template, and it is why the kits do not look like everything else.
IV. Fonts you can actually use
Every typeface in a kit is under the SIL Open Font Licence and ships in the kit as files you install on your own computer. No Canva-only fonts, no “buy the licence separately”, no surprise when your printer asks for them.
V. A Studio that keeps it alive
A brand you cannot update is a brand you will abandon in six months. Every kit includes the Brand Studio: one file, opens in your browser, works offline, no account. Twenty-nine pieces you can retype and re-export — labels, tags, price list, cards, posts, a website — in any colour, forever.
What we do not do
- We do not use stock illustration or Canva library art in anything you might trademark.
- We do not sell the same file to thousands of people and call it a brand. Standard kits are open; the Exclusive option retires a look outright.
- We do not lock you into a subscription to keep using what you bought.
- We do not claim things about how a kit was made that are not true. Where an ornament came from is printed in your kit and on its page.
